Academics

Academy (5-6)

Grades 5-6Welcome to the Academy!

At Concord Christian School, our 5th & 6th Grade Academy is intentionally designed to advance and positively impact each student’s educational journey during these formative years. This unique program bridges the gap between Lower and Upper School, providing students with the academic structure and guidance needed to thrive as they prepare for the next stage of learning.

Our dedicated Academy teaching teams focus on developing the essential skills necessary for a successful transition into Upper School. Students are challenged to become more autonomous learners by strengthening critical thinking, organizational and time management skills. Through purposeful instruction and Christ-centered mentorship, students are also encouraged to cultivate leadership potential and confidence as they grow academically, socially, and spiritually.

Academy House System

What is a house system?

The house system is a long standing western Christian tradition that comes from early British and American schools. Students are sorted into houses or teams for the purpose of developing school spirit and creating spiritual accountability.

What about house names and mascots?

Houses receive a name that creates unity and helps them organize around a set of principles and values. The house mascot is a symbol that further enables a team to embody the values carried in their houses' name.

What are the house names and mascots chosen for this school year?

We have chosen five ancient Greek words prominent in the New Testament for our house names. They are Agape (Love) symbolized by the eagle, Charis (Grace) symbolized by the mustang, Dunamis (Strength) symbolized by the bison, Kardia (Heart) symbolized by the wolf, Tharsos (Courage) symbolized by the ram.

Each house has been given a Greek letter abbreviation and motto presented in Latin upon their house crest. The colors of the shield will be the main identifying color for each house.
